Billboard Recap, Jessica Simpson, Wesley Snipes, Nicole got arrested for DUI, Pete Doherty released, Foxy Brown, Nas and Jay-Z, Hinder acting badly, Kevin Federline dumped again, & Gaming addiction. Minute to Minute report,

The Game was arrested for impersonating a police officer on Thursday after telling a taxi driver he was an undercover cop.  The rapper – real name Jayceon Taylor - reportedly jumped into the back of a taxi after recording the Late Show with David Letterman in New York and convinced the driver to run a series of red lights, before finally being pulled over by real police 13 blocks later.  The Game’s lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, claims the incident - which will come to court on 12 December - was due to “harassment”.

He tells the Associated Press, “This is really a new low even for the NYPD. It's a big joke to harass him and other members of the hip-hop community, and ultimately arresting him. Let's see how funny they think it is during the cross-examinations of this trial."  The hip-hop superstar is currently being sued by 5 police officers who arrested him last year for defamation after he compared his treatment to that of Rodney King, who was famously videotaped being beaten up by LAPD officers (who were amazingly then found not guilty, causing South Central to go up in smoke).

Stage-fright caught poor Jessica Simpson.  Poor Jessica has been under tremendous stress and just getting over the dissolution of her marriage, but to add to injury she caught the bug.  Jessica Simpson while singing a tribute to Dolly Pardon forgot the words to 9 to 5.  She tried to catch up and then flustered and ran off the stage.  She had done such a good job up till then, most were confused when she ran off.  Dolly looked like it must have been a joke, but was very understanding and took it all in stride with a look like we understand honey.  Jessica came back out later and apologized but all understood her pain. No one is perfect honey so just keep on giving us good music ok.. lol.

On the other side, (Devils Advocate), (One of our assistants says) > it seems those Simpson sisters share a tendency to panic when performing live. At least for Jessica Simpson, her apparent freeze-up at the Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday night was taped, rather than broadcast live.  Simpson's sister Ashlee made headlines in 2004 when she bungled a song on "Saturday Night Live" -- revealing she was actually lip-syncing to a tape.  But it does not only happen to the Simpson's, Method Man forgot the words to "Sucka MC's" , he did have to read the words off his side-kick as he sang along with Redman at Rev. Runs birthday party at the Tenjune.                                         Back to the Top

Blazing it up, Mary J. Blige and country star Kenny Chesney nabbed early awards at the annual Billboard Awards Monday night.  Mary, who was nominated for five major-category awards, was named R&B/Hip-Hop artist of the year and Chesney won male country artist of the year at the two-hour live show from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.  The telecast did not, however, feature Tinsel town's Best Friends, heiress Paris Hilton and mom-gone-wild Britney Spears. After their recent binge of late-night partying, it was reported that the new best friends would be co-hosting the show, but that didn't happen.  The show went on without a host but with a lineup of presenters moving things along. On the red carpet, comedian B-List Celeb-Kathy Griffin joked that she could fill in: ''I'll be in the 7th row ready to jump up at any minute.'' (We don't know why, but she was a good pick for host in Paris-Britney stead).

Janet Jackson opened the show with a nod to the old and the new. Sporting a short bob haircut and a belly-baring white turtleneck sweater that offered no chance of a wardrobe malfunction, Jackson performed her 1980s classic, ''The Pleasure Principle,'' mixed into ''So Excited,'' a single from her 2006 comeback album, ''20 Y.O.'' Black Eyed Peas powerhouse Fergie performed ''Fergalicious,'' a hit from her first solo effort, backed by a crew of dancers in body paint and set of giant candy canes. Crooner Tony Bennett was honored with the Billboard Century Award, a lifetime achievement award. Good thing his album "Duets" is out and doing well.  Nickelback was up for artist of the year, as well as rock artist of the year, group and rock group of the year. They were joined by Nashville-based Rascal Flatts, for two of the categories. The multi-platinum country band also was nominated for artist of the year and group of the year, as well as a string of country nominations, including country album of the year for their fifth album, ''Me and My Gang.''

Rapper T.I. was up for rap artist of the year along with Sean Paul and Yung Joc. His fourth solo album, ''King,'' which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart in March, was nominated for best rap album of the year, along with ''Tha Carter II'' from Lil Wayne and Eminem's ''Curtain Call: The Hits.'' Teen singer Chris Brown's self-titled debut album landed the 17-year-old hip-hopper nominations for artist of the year, male artist of the year and new artist of the year. ''It feels great,'' he said from the red carpet. ''I certainly don't feel my age.'' Brown said people were treating him like he was older but then reality set in when he realized he could not do much because of his young age. His first night in Vegas was spent hanging out with his mom in his hotel room, he said.

The Billboard Awards are given to the year's chart-topping artists. Winners are determined by the magazine's year-end chart listings, which are based on record sales and airplay. Although we do not always agree with the Billboard on who should be on their list, we must give them mad props for doing what must be done in the music biz to let people know about what is out there.  Hip Hop underground should be picked up by that magazine, besides house and other types of music but hey, life is life and they do things their way.  Congrats Billboard, to another successful year for you and yours.

Gamers Addiction Continued:   Professor Griffiths, who is Director of the International Gaming Research Unit at Nottingham Trent University, said the main aim of the study was to investigate the addictive potential of gaming. A self-selected sample comprising of 7069 gamers, mostly male (94%), with an average age of 21 years, answered two online questionnaires. One in nine of them (840 gamers) fulfilled at least three diagnostic criteria of addiction concerning their gaming behavior. Addictive signs were modeled on key symptoms of dependence syndrome outlined by the World Health Organization and included craving, tolerance, withdrawal symptoms, loss of control, neglect of other activities, and other negative consequences.

Those gamers who displayed at least three addictive signs were then compared with the remaining gamers. The "addicted" gamers predictably played for significantly longer daily periods of time. They were also significantly more likely to report withdrawal symptoms and craving.  The study was carried out in conjunction with German colleagues Sabine Grüsser and Ralf Thalemann (University Medicine Berlin).  Professor Griffiths said: Although these gamers show some signs of addiction normally found in other more traditional addictions, our results do not conclusively show that the gamers are genuinely addicted. Many gamers play excessively and display few negative consequences. However, the 24-hour a day never-ending online games may provide a potentially addictive medium for those with a predisposition for excessive game playing.   So in a word, chill, take time for yourself and life, get outside and have fun.                 Back to the Top

A popular former radio talk show host accused of fatally shooting his estranged wife was indicted Thursday on a second-degree murder charge.  Vince Marinello, 69, appeared alone at the hearing because his attorney withdrew from the case last week. He has not yet entered a plea in the case and an arraignment date has not been set. He is accused of shooting his estranged wife, Mary Elizabeth Marinello, twice in the face on Aug. 31. The 45-year-old respiratory therapist died the next day.  The attack was first described as a botched robbery, but investigators discarded that theory after examining surveillance tapes.

Sheriff Harry Lee has said Marinello disguised himself as a scruffy man and rode a bicycle to the parking lot of a building where he knew his wife was attending a regularly scheduled appointment. Detectives have not found the gun used to kill the woman, but Lee said they found a handwritten checklist of the plans for the attack - describing the bicycle, costume and gun, inside Marinello's FEMA trailer. Marinello's bond was raised to $750,000 from $250,000 on Thursday. Unable to come up with the money, he was handcuffed and taken into custody.

Actor Wesley Snipes pleaded not guilty on Friday in Orlando, Florida Court to face charges he illegally claimed millions of dollars in tax refunds and was allowed to quickly return to an African movie set, U.S. prosecutors. A Florida court released Snipes, who starred in the vampire-hunter movie series "Blade," on a $1 million bond and allowed him to return to Namibia where he is filming the horror western "Gallow-walker".  He must return to the United States and surrender his passport by January 10 with a trial date in March, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida said in a statement.  Snipes arrived on Friday morning by private jet from Namibia in southern Africa to Orlando International Airport in Florida, where he was arrested and taken to Ocala for an initial court appearance.  He then returned to the airport and held a news conference. His lawyers said he was due to fly back to Namibia via the Bahamas later in the day.  Back to the Top

The early morning arrest of the 25-year-old co-star of "The Simple Life" came about six weeks after it was revealed that she had checked herself into a treatment facility to address weight-loss issues. Officer Todd Workman, a spokesman for the (CHP) - California Highway Patrol, said police encountered Richie at a standstill blocking the carpool lane on the Ventura Freeway in Burbank at about 1:45 a.m. He said the officers were responding to reports from other motorists of a driver going the wrong way on the busy highway. Although Richie's car was pointed in the right direction when police found her, her black sports utility vehicle matched the description of an SUV seen entering the freeway against traffic nearby, Workman said.  Workman said Richie was placed under arrest after she failed a field sobriety test, and that she admitted to officers that she had taken the prescription painkiller Vicodin and smoked marijuana. A preliminary alcohol screening test was negative, he said.

According to Workman, Miss Richie was alone in her vehicle and on the cell phone when police approached her. He described her as "very cooperative" and that she told police she had been following a friend on the freeway when she got lost. Nicole Richie, who has previously undergone treatment for heroin addiction, was subsequently booked into jail on a DUI charge and was released a few hours later after posting $15,000 bail, authorities said. A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department report showed the the 5-foot-1-inch actress weighed about 85 pounds at the time of her booking. Miss Paris Hilton was arrested in Hollywood in September on suspicion of drunk driving after police saw her driving erratically.

Under California law, if Nicole is convicted of DUI as a result of Monday's arrest, the judge must impose a jail sentence. This law requires a mandatory sentence of five consecutive days in county jail as well as a one year license suspension for anyone twice-convicted of DUI. In addition, Nicole would be ordered to attend an alcohol education program for a year-and-a-half, even if the second conviction is not alcohol-related. Nicole had admitted to CHP officers that she had taken Vicodin and smoked pot before driving the wrong way on a Burbank freeway. A field sobriety test revealed she was not under the influence of alcohol.

Nicole Richie told cops all she had eaten that day were French fries. As for what she drank that day "1 shot vodka." She blew a .12. and a .13 in two separate tests. In California, .08 is considered legally intoxicated. Nicole was stopped in her Toyota Corolla after a UCLA police officer observed her blowing a red light and driving over a speed bump at more than 50 miles an hour in an area with a 15 mph speed limit. Nicole flunked the field sobriety test -- her eyes were watery and bloodshot, and she could not keep her balance.

Nicole Richie was given three years probation for her previous 2002 DUI conviction and had her license suspended for one year. Six months later, Richie was arrested for possession of heroin and for driving with a suspended license.
So she might have some advise for her old friend.  One would only hope...Back to the Top

The family of a man who fell to his death at a party attended by troubled singer Pete Doherty have called for a full police investigation into the incident. Actor Matt Blanco, 30, was found injured outside an east London apartment building where he had attended a party on Dec. 3 and died later in hospital.  Doherty and others at the party have been interviewed by police, who reportedly do not consider the singer a suspect. They have said they believe Blanco fell from a balcony.

Blanco's sister, Emma, said the family wanted to know why Doherty and others reportedly left the scene before police arrived. "We're finding it very difficult to do any grieving as we're so busy trying to find out the truth," she was quoted as saying by The Independent on Sunday newspaper. "We want to know what happened that night. This is not about us assigning blame on a pseudo-celebrity. We just want the truth." -  This was not first trouble for Pete, we just talked about him earlier, so here is the rest of the story on the first thing...The singer from east London was arrested in April in possession of under two grams each of heroin, cannabis and cocaine just three hours after he was sentenced to two years of community service for previous drug offenses. The drugs were found in the vehicle he was in and at his home.

Doherty was arrested again on Aug. 7 with a crack pipe and small amount of crack cocaine, and pleaded guilty on Aug. 18 to all five counts. "He's not going to jail. It's amazing," said 16-year-old fan Georgina Raymond, who jumped up and down screaming into her cell phone, "I hugged him!" In September, McIvor told Doherty he would not serve jail time for the charges if he continued rehabilitation, stayed employed and did not commit any other offenses. She also complimented his song, "The Blinding." Doherty did not break any of the restrictions the judge imposed.  Back to the Top

Foxy Brown, 26, was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault charges in August for kicking one employee and smacking a second in the face on Aug. 29, 2004, in an argument over payment for a manicure at Bloomie Nails. Weinberg suggested to Judge Melissa C. Jackson that Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, should spend some time in jail. Foxy said the accusation about her wanting to be treated specially resulted from her reluctance to sit in a downtown Brooklyn probation office during the late evening for three hours "with all kind of criminals" without any security.

The judge, who sentenced Brown in October, warned her to comply with the terms of her sentence or face going to jail. The judge would not let Foxy speak, telling her to wait until her next court appearance when her lawyer is present. The rapper said she had submitted to drug tests "and they came back clean, negative, perfect." "My safety was in jeopardy," Brown said. ... "I didn't think they were going to throw me in with the wolves." Outside court, Foxy said, "I have never violated probation. This is happening to me because I'm Foxy Brown ." Go on Foxy Brown... When Nas and Jay-Z set aside their feud and joined forces last October, it was a great moment for hip-hop, but an even greater moment for Nas . Having been Columbia's staple rap artist for more than a decade, the acclaimed yet commercially unreliable MC seemed poised to reap the benefits of Def Jam's hip-hop savvy  new plan. But then Def Jam chief Jay-Z emerged from retirement with "Kingdom Come," which sold 680,000 units in its opening week last month -- the rapper's biggest sales frame ever. "This was the plan," the native New Yorker says. "All the things that are happening are what me and Jay said would happen. A lot of people are coming down on him, but people just need to get used to rappers in these executive positions."

Concerns have risen that the heavily hyped "Kingdom Come" could put a damper on Nas ' equally anticipated Def Jam debut "Hip-Hop Is Dead . . . The N," due Dec. 19. But while label-mates Method Man and LL Cool J have publicly decried Jay-Z 's apparent preferential treatment, Nas has no gripes. The deal took shape after the once sworn enemies ended their longtime rivalry at WWPR (Power 105.1) New York's Power House concert in East Rutherford, N.J. Three months later, Nas signed a four-album deal with Def Jam, and Island Def Jam and Sony Music are serving as financial partners for the first two discs. The labels share marketing duties, while Def Jam provides promotion and distribution.  Despite Jeezy's evident marketing savvy, would-be corporate sponsors are not exactly lining up at his door. It seems some companies are gun-shy when it comes to seeking endorsements from a guy who raps about selling cocaine.

On the other hand though - Young Jeezy - Jay Z, born Jay Jenkins, originally planned to be a businessman instead of a rapper. Before he signed with Def Jam in 2004, he had already built a brand: Two mix-tapes and his independently released 2003 album "Come With Me" made him a celebrity at home in Atlanta, across the South and elsewhere. "People come to me about clothing or movies because I'm hot," Jay Z says. "And then when they do the background check, they're like, 'Oh, shit,' and call my manager ... 'I don't think we're going be able to work this out."' In summer of 2005, with his core fan base and radio solidified, the rapper's second single from "Let's Get It" -- "Soul Survivor" featuring Akon -- climbed to No. 4 on Billboard's Hot 100. Meanwhile, promotional T-shirts depicting his snowman cartoon spread across the country. When a November 2005 CNN report deciphered the snowman as a coke-peddling symbol, Jeezy found himself at the center of a firestorm that forced him to repeatedly explain his "dope boy" lyrics.

One brand that has noticed his success is wireless company Boost Mobile. Joining its 2005 campaign as a performer, Jeezy participated in the company's recent Rock Corps concert series that exchanged concert tickets for community service in New York and Atlanta. "When he performed at our NBA All-Star weekend party, I knew that we wanted to use him for a campaign," says Lisa Spiritus, Boost Mobile director of entertainment marketing. "Every time we've done focus groups Jeezy's tested very well. And in each market, whenever the kids ask me who they're going to see at their reward concert, I list Fabolous , T.I. and Ludacris , but they're always most excited when I say Jeezy.  "Back to the Top

Multiple major and indie labels wined and dined the Oklahoma City-based rock band in 2005, and Winkler and his band-mates took full advantage of the expense accounts of courting talent scouts. 2 days before Hinder signed with Universal, a rival label thought a trip to a strip club would win the band over. It didn't work. "This guy had to catch a flight, and he left his tab open at the bar and told us we could have one more beer," Winkler says. "We didn't like the guy, so as soon as he left we called up all our friends and they came down to the strip club. I have no idea what the bill was, but we were going up all night and getting like $200 in ones."

The party hasn't stopped for Hinder, which released its debut album, "Extreme Behavior," in September 2005. Full of big guitars and proudly gratuitous references to sex and booze, Hinder's pool-hall anthems have become staples on modern rock radio and have propelled the album to sell 1.5 million units in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "Extreme Behavior" entered The Billboard 200 at No. 167 on Oct. 15, 2005, and peaked at No. 6 last month. The album is currently No. 21, and current single "Lips of an Angel" has reached the top 10 of The Billboard Hot 100. The band also received a bit of a branding boost from adult film company "Girls Gone Wild." Hinder did a four-week "Girls Gone Wild" club tour this winter, with video crews filming the band and the audience. The move put Hinder in front of its core market -- college students -- and helped persuade wary radio programmers that heavy marketing dollars were behind the band.

"It gave us real promotional value on-air with radio stations," Fermaglich says. "Not only were we super serving radio with the band coming to town, but we added on this other element of a promotion that involved 'Girls Gone Wild,' and stations could run with that kind of a presence on-air." The band later cashed in on Zaruk's Nickelback connection and opened for the band this summer. More recently, Hinder was opening for Aerosmith and plans to be on the road through at least July 2007.                       Back to the Top

Britney's not the only one dumping K-Fed. One of the only companies who ever hired Kevin Federline has also gotten rid of the alleged rapper. Back in June, K-Fed was tapped to be the face of Five Star Vintage, a clothing label owned by San Francisco's Blue Marlin clothing company. They even re-hired K-Fed back in September, when he was still Mr. Spears, in prep for their holiday ad campaign. Kevin Federline's contract was allowed to conveniently expire and it seems like his image may have completely tanked the brand the company's official website no longer exists.  Meanwhile, the marketing executive who brought in Federline, touting his "renegade style," has moved on and hasn't been replaced. Blue Marlin told a reporter that Five Star Vintage still exists, and that the companies website was merely having "technical difficulties." Kevin has been doing well with the WWE, he is slated to go one on one with the big man John Cena on Jan 1st.  He has been doing well as the most hated celebrity on WWE.  Maybe we can make that true Kev..  We cannot wait till Kevin Federline, who showed up on WWE Raw, wants everyone to call him Kevin Federline instead of K-Fed gets kicked to sleep on national TV.  "Make all your jokes, because New Year's Day I'm the one who is going to be laughing," Federline shouted to Monday's crowd as they booed.           Back to the Top

NEW YORK (Dec. 16) - "American Pie" star Natasha Lyonne, arrested after threatening to sexually abuse a neighbor's dog, left court a free woman Friday after a judge promised to dismiss the charges against her. Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Anthony J. Ferrara said that because Lyonne successfully completed a court-ordered drug program and paid $2,000 restitution, he was sentencing her to a conditional discharge. Assistant District Attorney Remy Taborga confirmed that Lyonne had met the conditions set by the court. The prosecutor recommended the conditional discharge, which means that if Lyonne is not arrested within the next six months, the charges will be dismissed. Lyonne, 27, was charged with criminal mischief, criminal trespass and harassment in December 2004 after she entered a female neighbor's Gramercy Park apartment screaming and yelling, according to a misdemeanor complaint filed in court.

The complaint said Lyonne banged on the female neighbor's door, entered the apartment, ripped a mirror off the wall, picked up the woman's pooch and said, "I'm going to sexually molest your dog." After her arrest, Lyonne missed several court dates and the judge issued a warrant for her arrest. On Friday, Ferrara vacated the outstanding warrant. During the Friday proceeding, drug counselor Heather Hayes from the Caron Foundation told the judge that Lyonne completed an inpatient drug program in February and was continuing to receive outpatient counseling. "She's done excellently, very well," Hayes said. Lyonne's lawyer, Terry Karl, said in court that his client, who has also appeared "Blade," "Scary Movie 2," "Slums of Beverly Hills" and "Kate & Leopold," was working again after being idle for a long time after her arrest. Last year, it was reported Lyonne was hospitalized for hepatitis C, a heart infection and a collapsed lung. Back to the Top

Country star Troy Gentry shot a captive bear then altered a tape to make the killing look like a hunting incident. He plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge.

The public's appetite for those "Oops! ... I Did It Again!" moments involving pop princess Britney Spears shows no sign of waning as she scooped the number one celebrity viral video this year. A clip of Spears burping and talking incoherently about her belief in time travel was viewed over 3 million times to take top spot comfortably, said ViralVideoChart.com on Monday. Live TV footage of Spears' estranged husband Kevin Federline apparently getting a text message informing him the pop singer had filed for divorce was second with nearly 2 million hits.

Viral video is the term used to describe clips that gain huge popularity after being posted on the Internet, spreading like viruses through emails, blogs and instant messages. ViralVideoChart.com  says it scans several million blogs a day to see which clips are being talked about most and compiles a daily list of the 20 most-viewed videos. Seinfeld co-star Michael Richards' racist outburst was third in the 2006 chart with over a million hits just four weeks after it was first posted online.
Richards sparked a public outcry for spewing a torrent of racial slurs at hecklers during his stand-up act at the Laugh Factor comedy club in Hollywood on November 17. The incident was captured in digital camera video footage that was widely circulated on the Internet and was broadcast on TV newscasts three days later. Back to the Top

Minute to Minute report:

Actress Lindsay Lohan talking less than generously about socialite Paris Hilton was fourth, while a video of Hilton crashing a Bentley claimed fifth place.

Actress Keira Knightley 's rendition of "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head," played on her teeth, featured on the syndicated American series "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" was No. 6 just ahead of model Katie Price and husband Peter Andre's video for their debut single "A Whole New World."

Hilton makes a reappearance at No. 8 singing happy birthday to the 80-year-old founder of Playboy magazine Hugh Hefner, with a video of actress Pamela Anderson at No. 9.

Sharon Osbourne's tirade at a panty-free Rebecca Loos on British reality TV show Celebrity X-Factor rounds out the chart.

Johnny Hallyday is the closest thing France has to Elvis, so the veteran rocker's announcement that he is moving across the border to Switzerland to escape high taxes has come as a bombshell.
In the highly politicized atmosphere of pre-election France, the singer's decision is taking on political dimensions, too. Score one for presidential hopeful Nicolas Sarkozy: If the conservative who is promising lower taxes wins next spring's elections, Hallyday says he may move back.

"Black is black, there's no more hope," Hallyday sang in one of his many hits. And the way he tells it, being wealthy in France has become hopelessly expensive.

"Like many French, I'm sick of paying what is imposed on us in the way of taxes," the grizzled icon, known simply as "Johnny" to his fans, said this week.

At 63, Hallyday is thinking about the hereafter, too. He said he wants to protect his three children from inheritance tax. "I agree to paying taxes. But inheritance and all that, I don't agree with."
