On Sunday night,
thousands of celebrities, some dressed in their best
attire, while others... just weren't, all gathered together to attend the
annual Grammy awards. The 50th Grammy Awards were held in Los Angeles with a
lot of nostalgia and sentiment. With the awards opened with Alicia Keys
doing a duet with Frank Sinatra, ala Nat and Natalie Cole. The Beatles
were
there, almost there was Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, Olivia Harrison...and Paul
didn't show. He has to be in court today in London for his divorce from
Heather Mills. Still, it would have nice if he would jet over for the
Grammy's and head back for his divorce.
Amy Winehouse did a appearance via satellite
from London because of her
drug
problems with police was not allowed a work visa to come to the states still
was there and performed at least, singing rehab. She was lucky that
she did not come, she would have been running up for award after award, she
took the Grammy's by storm with 5 grammies. Besides her problems
lately she did very well. There was some backstage murmurs about her
wins, one from the incomparable Natalie Cole. Natalie said that
'Amy should not be awarded for bad behavior', Natalie had problems long ago
but got rehabbed and is better for it. So she can talk about this, so
there...
Kanye West won four trophies at Sunday's 50th
annual
Grammy Awards, including one for Best Rap Album (Graduation). Right behind
'Ye was Alicia Keys with three awards, including one for Best R&B Song ("No
One"). Other honorees included Ne-Yo, Chaka Khan, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna,
Aretha Franklin, Jill Scott and Democratic presidential hopeful Barack
Obama. Kanye rocked the stage with a glow-in-the dark rendition of
"Stronger" backed by Daft Punk and followed that with a homage to his late
mother, "Hey Mama." Meanwhile, Beyoncé and Tina Turner gave a rousing
performance of
"Proud
Mary."
T-Pain is overjoyed with his first Grammy
trophy, which he won Sunday for Best Rap Song ("Good Life," his duet with
Kanye West). Now he has to figure out where he's going to display it. "Diddy
told me if I don't have a piano, I don't have nowhere to put it," he says.
"I have to get a piano." T-Pain also appreciates Kanye's swagger. "I love
his arrogance," he admits. "Couple more of these [trophies], I'll be like
that, too." More on the ceremonies
