Actor, writer and producer Ossie Davis pauses at the State Department
before a dinner celebrating...Davis was found dead Friday in his hotel room in Miami Beach, Fla., according to officials there. He was making a film, "Retirement." Davis wrote, acted, directed and produced for the theater and Hollywood. Even light fare such as the comedy "Grumpy Old Men" with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau was somehow enriched by his strong, but gentle presence. Davis and Dee celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1998 with the publication of a dual autobiography, "With Ossie & Ruby: In This Life Together." Ossie Davis, whose rich baritone and elegant, unshakable bearing made him a giant of the stage, screen and the civil rights movement - often in tandem with his wife, Ruby Dee - has died. and getting chewed out on-air by Miss Jones, Miss Info is considering
legal action against Hot 97 for creating a hostile work environment.
Moments before the airing of the song, Morning Show host, Miss Jones
verbally attacked Miss Info for not co-signing on the song and yelled,
"You think you're superior because you're Asian." Co-Host Todd Lynn
followed with "I'm gonna start shooting some Asians." Earlier this week
Todd Lynn and Morning Show producer Rick Delgado were fired, while
Miss Jones and DJ Envy were suspended for two weeks.****************************************** |

on Wednesday to charges
of laundering more than $1 million in drug proceeds through their record
label, the Inc. (formerly Murder Inc.), in federal court in Brooklyn.
The Gotti brothers, who surrendered to authorities Wednesday morning
(January 26), were released after a $1 million bond was posted for each.
They face up to 20 years in prison.

Displaying Gross Insensitivity and Making Offensive Remarks.. Emmis
Communications (Owners of Hot 97) & Donates $1 Million to Charities to Aid
in Tsunami Relief & Recovery. Hot 97 has been facing Scathing Criticism with the Playing
of the awful Tsunami Song amid other problems. WQHT/Hot
97-FM and Emmis Communications announced today that they have terminated
the employment of morning show producer Rick Del Gado for his role in
writing, producing and airing “The Tsunami Song,” a highly insensitive
parody of the 1985 single “We Are the World.” Hot 97 and Emmis also
terminated morning show personality Todd Lynn for making offensive,
racially insensitive comments while on the air. Both terminations are
effective immediately. Simultaneously, Emmis announced that it will make
a lump-sum donation of $1 million to Give2Asia to aid the organization in
its Tsunami relief and recovery effort. An internal investigation by Hot
97 and Emmis determined that the singularly egregious actions of Lynn and
Delgado warranted termination from their employment at the station. Other
members of the morning show crew: Miss Jones, DJ Envy and Tasha Hightower
have each been given two-week suspensions. The salaries of these
individuals will be redirected to Give2Asia for the duration of their
suspensions, which will end on Wednesday, February 9. Another member of
the morning show crew, Miss Info, has not been suspended. “The actions of
the morning show crew were socially and morally indefensible and the
entire Emmis family is ashamed by this,” said Rick Cummings, President of
Emmis Radio “Emmis and Hot 97 have investigated this matter thoroughly
over the course of the last week. Our decision to terminate Mr. Del Gado
and Mr. Lynn while suspending the other members of the morning crew sends
a message that this type of insensitivity is utterly unacceptable."
