Two Jacksons albums, 'Destiny' & 'Triumph,  'will be reissued as deluxe editions on Aug. 12. The updated Destiny boasts rare disco mixes of "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)" and "Blame It on the Boogie." Triumph, meanwhile, features three bonus songs: a single mix of "This Place Hotel" and both a vocal and instrumental mix of "Walk Right Now."

New Orleans native Lil Wayne has been added as a headliner for the Big Easy's 10th annual Voodoo Experience music festival Oct. 24-26. Beloved Comedian George Carlin has passed away. A publicist for George Carlin says the legendary comedian has died of heart failure at a hospital in Santa Monica, Calif. Carlin went into St. John's Health Center on Sunday afternoon, complaining of chest pain. Carlin died at 5:55 p.m. PDT. He was 71. Carlin, who had a history of heart trouble, performed as recently as last weekend at the Orleans Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. It was announced Tuesday that Carlin was being awarded the 11th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

Soulja Boy plans to drop his second album, iSouljaBoy, in the fall. Unlike his first effort, the Atlanta verbalist will not produce the entire collection, but hopes to collaborate with hitmaker Polow Da Don and singer Sean Kingston. "The album is gonna be crazy," he says. As for his much-publicized diss-a-thon with Ice-T over his music, Soulja says he's not sweating it. "I ain't scared of dude," Soulja spits. "This ain't no beef or drama."

A judge set a Feb. 17, 2009, trial date in the lawsuit brought by Sonja Norwood, mother of R&B star Brandy, against sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian and their brother Robert Jr. She has accused the well-to-do sibs of racking up more than $120,000 in unauthorized charges on her credit card in 2006 and 2007, when Kim was working as Brandy's stylist and dating the singer's brother Ray J whom Kim dated and still dates off and on. The Kardashians have denied, "generally and specifically," every allegation in Norwood's suit, saying they had the woman's permission to shop spree-style. Norwood is seeking complete compensation for the charges, plus 10 percent interest hopefully this will all be concluded before the trial deadline of Feb. 11th.

Finally after just Two years after the shooting death of T.I.'s childhood friend Philant Johnson, authorities in Cincinnati have arrested and indicted two men who allegedly committed the murderous act. Brothers Hosea and Padron Thomas were each charged with murder and seven counts of felonious assault stemming from the May 2006 incident. Police said the shooting was the result of a series of heated clashes between T.I.'s crew and the brothers, who were denied access to the rapper's VIP party.

This is not such a surprise but: Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, the Miracles and the Village People are among the celebrities chosen to be inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2009. The California city's Chamber of Commerce held a meeting June 12 to pick the honorees who will have their own stars embedded on Hollywood Boulevard. Others receiving a star on the Walk next year include Cameron Diaz, Iron Man's Robert Downey Jr. and CSI's William Petersen.

Lyfe Jennings will hit the road next week for a U.S. tour in support of his new album, Lyfe Change. The singer's Baby I'm a Star trek kicks off June 27 in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and mostly hits theaters and clubs throughout the country before wrapping up Sept. 10 in Cleveland. George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic have fleshed out their upcoming summer trek. The jaunt kicks off July 5th in Nelson, Ohio, and is scheduled to wrap July 25th in Chicago, with several dates just added in the Northeast. In other touring news, Earth, Wind & Fire will be joined on their trek by Michael McDonald beginning Sept. 13th in Providence, Rhode Island

The Internet is abuzz over a leaked phone conversation in which former G-Unit rapper Young Buck breaks down and pleads with 50 Cent not to cut him from the group. This comes after Young was vocal about his displeasure with G-Unit in music videos and various online interviews. In response, Young has released a diss record attacking 50 and claiming the phone conversation happened more than a year ago.

Rihanna is showing New York some love on Thursday, as she flips on the lights to the Empire State Building at 1 p.m. ET. The skyscraper will glow a bright red in show of a commemoration of Declare Your Love Day in the Big Apple. If you can't make it to that event? Later in the day you can give Rihanna some love during her online chat session at 6 p.m. EST.

Kanye West will perform a post-race show at the Los Angeles edition of Nike's 25-city Nike + Human Race on Aug. 31st. "This race is bringing together hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world to run and listen to some great music while serving a higher cause," says Kanye. Among the other artists performing post-race concerts that day will be Kelly Rowland in Paris.

In conjunction with his summer tour, Mario will hold Q&A sessions at local Boys & Girls Clubs to talk about his struggle to help his mother stop abusing drugs. "I felt like my story and who I am as an artist would be an inspiration for a lot of kids who may have experienced the same thing," he says. Mario also is promoting his newly launched Mario Do Right Foundation,which aims to help kids who are affected by drug abuse.

Brad Paisley has some company on his tour this summer. It seem that he picked country singer and dancer from 'Dancing with the Stars' own Julianne Hough. It seems that dear Julianne has some pipes and is enjoying the tour.  She started last weekend and is happy and looking forward to performing.  She opens for Brad, and sings with her brother Derrick a duet from the album. She is burning up the C&W charts.

Miley Cyrus will be hosting the Teen awards. Chris Brown leads all music acts with 10 nominations for Teen Choice 2008, which Fox will televise on Aug. 4. The R&B crooner scored three mentions in the Choice Music: Single category alone. Other multiple nominees include Kanye West, Usher, Rihanna, Flo Rida, Mariah Carey and Justin Timberlake. Fans aged 13-19 can sign in here to vote for their favorites.

After years of separation, all five original members of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are planning to reunite as a group. Bone member Krayzie reveals that once member Flesh is released from prison in July, the members plan to go into the studio to record a reunion album with hitmaker Swizz Beatz. "It's definitely going down," says Krayzie. "It ain't just a rumor . . . we are trying to put it all back together for real."

Lionel Richie has revealed that he plans to reunite with his former group the Legendary Commodores for a tour in the near future. The Grammy-winning musician says he hopes the funk/soul act's comeback to the stage will happen within the next two years. "We better do it now, or in the next 10 years nobody would care," he told reporters Saturday. Lionel believes that the camaraderie among the band-members is still very strong.

Rihanna is among the latest performers added to June 24's BET Awards. Ne-Yo and screen stars Jennifer Hudson, Terrence Howard and Gabrielle Union also join the show's expanding roster of performers and presenters. Meanwhile, Rihanna's official concert DVD packaged with Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded will be showing at select theaters to coincide with its release on Tuesday.

Aretha Franklin is bringing her soulful pipes to the JVC Jazz Festival in Newport, R.I. The three-day extravaganza runs Aug. 8-10, with the Queen of Soul headlining the Aug. 9 bill. Also slated to perform at the event are Herbie Hancock, Ledisi, Anthony Hamilton, Sonny Rollins and Soullive with Fred Wesley. The Game will speak to area youths about the dangers of street violence at a Peace in Our Streets rally Thursday at Newark, N.J.'s George Washington Carver School. Meanwhile, city officials in Jersey City, N.J., have nixed Jim Jones' planned appearance at a June 27 HIV/AIDS awareness concert. Mayor Jerramiah Healy said they canceled Jim's show because of the lyrical content in his music.

Timbaland is definitely happy lately! The proven hit-maker and his longtime girlfriend and publicist, Monique Idlett, were married Tuesday by a family minister in Virginia. The bride and groom were casually dressed in sweats for the occasion, but are planning to hold a formal ceremony in Aruba on June 22. Mr. and Mrs. Timbaland have a baby girl named Reign together.

Christie's has a brand new bag and it's full of James Brown's stuff. The New York auction house is ready to sell some of the late Godfather of Soul's most valuable possessions on July 17. Among the items up for bidding are James' embroidered satin cape, his 1986 Grammy Award (for "Living in America"), 83 pairs of sunglasses, his personal hair-drying chair and more. The James Brown Collection is estimated to rake in roughly $1 million.

Well, it looks like we must wait a little more because Nas' highly anticipated "untitled" disc has been pushed back from its July 1 release date to July 15th. The set's first official single is the Polow da Don-blessed track "Hero" (featuring Keri Hilson), which finds the New York rhyme-spitter vowing to continue to spit the truth despite the uproar surrounding the disc's controversial original title. Meanwhile, the video for Nas' provocative song "Be a N***** Too" has been posted here.

After taking off from singing for a while, at least solo singing, New Edition singer Ralph Tresvant is ready for his as-yet-untitled next album for release later this year. The LP's lead single is "It Must Be You," which will be available for download July 1 via iTunes and other digital music websites. "This album is something I've wanted to put out for a while," says Ralph. "These songs round off where I've come from and who I am after all this time."

Trey Songz is working hard of late, he will be performing in Chicago at an outdoor unity concert in an effort to stop a recent wave of violence in the city. The Songz for Peace concert, which is set for Aug. 5th, also will feature performances from local rapper Twista and other celebrities. Events leading up to the concert include an Aug. 3rd  for a celebrity basketball tournament and a poetry slam.

Coolio has some big problems. When he was seen driving a 1996 Hummer at 1am, he was pulled over for a minor traffic violation, the police found out that he was a wanted man. There was a warrant for his arrest for a suspended license. They arrested him and his bail has been set for $10,000. Artis Leon Ivey Jr. is Coolio's real name.

Legendary piano man Stevie Wonder will embark on a European tour in September for the first time in more than a decade. "We are going to have some wonderful nights of intimate excitement," said the singer at the announcement of the 12-date trek, which begins Sept. 8 in Birmingham, England. "I want to thank everyone for the contribution you've made over my life."

John Legend will receive the CARE Humanitarian Award for Global Change at the organization's gala event in Washington, D.C., on June 17. The piano man is being saluted for his work to end poverty in Africa with his Show Me Campaign. "I accept this award as a call to intensify the fight to end global poverty in our lifetime," said John. Also being honored at the event are Elton John, Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Another Marvin Gaye biopic currently is in development, with filmmaker F. Gary Gray set to direct and songwriter-musician David Foster on board as a producer. The film, titled Marvin, will chronicle Marvin's life from his early days at Motown Records to his April 1, 1984, death. "I'm going to tell a truthful story," promises F. Gary. A competing movie titled Sexual Healing, which stars Jesse L. Martin as Marvin, has yet to go into production.

Lil Wayne teams up with Robin Thicke for "Tie My Hands," an original song featured in the upcoming film Hurricane Season. The high school basketball movie, which stars Weezy, was originally called Patriots and is currently set to hit theaters Dec. 25. "Tie My Hands" also will be on Wayne's Tha Carter III, in stores Tuesday. On the digital release of the album, the song boasts an exclusive ad lib about the basketball team featured in Hurricane Season.

Although James Brown has passed away, his musical legacy continues to be remembered by former JB's band-mates Pee Wee Ellis and Fred Wesley. The two musicians are currently touring in Europe on the African Tribute to James Brown trek. On the jaunt, Fred and Pee Wee are playing the Godfather of Soul's music with African musicians. Sly Stone, Carlos Santana, El DeBarge, the RZA and Red Hot Chili Peppers are among the big-name guest acts appearing on Radio Friendly, the upcoming album by funk visionary George Clinton. The disc, which also features members of the P-Funk All-Stars, is set to drop on Sept. 16. "I want to get all the young musicians together with all the old school musicians," explains Clinton.

Lil Flip is recuperating at a Houston hospital after being involved in a car accident Tuesday night (the 3rd). According to a press release, the Lone Star rhyme-spitter was hospitalized with only minor neck and wrist injuries. "We are looking forward to Lil Flip's speedy recovery," said the rapper's rep. Flipper is set to release a new LP titled 'Holla Back' on July 29th, via his label Clover G Records label. He will be fine ladies...

T.I. has inked a three-film deal with Screen Gems that will begin with the flick Bone Deep. The rapper-actor will join Idris Elba and Matt Dillon in the movie, which centers on a group of bank robbers who hatch a plan to pull off the biggest heist of their lives. The second film will be a drama called Boulevard, while a third project has yet to be determined. T.I.'s last movie was American Gangster, starring Denzel Washington.

T-Pain has carved himself a hitmaking career with his usage of the auto-tune (aka Vocoder) in his songs. But now the singer is hopping mad that other artists are using the machine and "biting" his crooning style to create hit songs. T-Pain is working on a diss track to put them on notice. "I just want everybody to know that there are a couple of people that I ain't cool with doing my style," he says.

Tatum O'Neil was saved?  She was arrested with a controlled substance.  At first she was said to have said to the cops that she was researching a movie.  She told them that they should know who she is, and when that did not work, she begged to be let go. Tatum has finally released a new statement that the cops did her a favor.  The police officers reportedly saved her life supposedly. She has been a little out of sorts lately over her dogs passing a couple of weeks ago. So... she was arrested on Sunday and was released on Monday.

Anita Baker will hit the road for a tour that stretches through the summer. Her soulful trek kicks off June 13 in Vienna, Va., and from there she will visit Aspen, Colo. (June 20) and Primm, Nev. (June 21). Next month, Anita will perform in Clarkston, Mich. (July 12), Hollywood, Fla. (July 24) and Rama, Canada (July 31). Then she'll hit Baltimore (Aug. 15), Portsmouth, Va. (Aug. 16) and Los Angeles (Sept. 26).

The Rock & Roll, Hall of Famer Bo Diddley has died.  He died of Heart failure on the 2nd, in the morning at his home in Florida.  He was a beloved guitarist and was known for his wailing guitar. He was known for several songs. He will be missed, especially by many musicians who loved and followed him onto the national arena.  He was 79 years old. The singer-guitarist died of heart failure in Archer, Fla., according to his rep. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician was still in rehabilitation after separately suffering a heart attack and a stroke last year. The Mississippi native's guitar work was instrumental in developing the early sounds of rock with such noteworthy songs as "Bo Diddley," "Who Do You Love" and "Pretty Thing." In 1998, he received a Grammy Lifetime achievement award.

Usher's recent pact with Sony Ericsson will offer fans a chance to win VIP tickets to his upcoming U.S. tour. So far, the R&B superstar has scheduled a June 6 one-off gig at New York's famed Apollo Theater. In the meantime, you can watch Usher's Good Morning America performance of "Love in This Club" here. Ok now, here is the update: R&B singer Sean Levert died of natural causes, an Ohio medical examiner ruled Thursday. Coroner Frank Miller said that the late crooner succumbed to complications of sarcoidosis, an inflammatory disease that causes small lumps in the body's organs. In addition, Sean had heart disease, high blood sugar and was going through withdrawal from anxiety medication at the time of his death. There was "no foul play or trauma," the coroner said in a press release.

Singer Eddie Floyd returns to old label home Stax Records to release his new album, Eddie Loves You So, on July 29. The set boasts several tunes he originally wrote for other artists but never recorded himself, including the Sam & Dave song "You Don't Know What You Mean to Me." Eddie signed with Stax Records as a songwriter in 1964, but his singing career took off after the release of his 1967 classic "Knock on Wood."

Oh its on now, the war of the words has started. 50 is in for a ear full now, it seems that he had a fight with his ex (Mother of his child), saying that he would get back at her for some mess she said to him.  Well, in a coincidence of fate, her house burned down.  50 was not in town, but that did not stop her from screaming that he was involved or sent someone to do it.  Anyway, 50's son, Marquis got out of the burning house through the roof.  A police officer helped the family get out.  The home burned to the ground. She was screaming to anyone that would listen, that it was 50's fault. Meanwhile: 50 Cent is developing an Apprentice-style reality show for MTV, in which the hip-hop toughie will find the next street-savvy business tycoon. In addition, the music channel is teaming up with Diddy to produce the music reality series Making the Rock Band with hopes in discovering the nation's hottest rock group. Rap superstars Swizz Beatz, Cassidy, Drag-On, Maino, Styles P and Talib Kweli are featured on a tribute song to the late Sean Bell called "Stand Up." The Heatmakerz-produced track is a response to the April 25 acquittal of three New York police officers in the shooting death of Sean. "There's nothing in [the song] that's fabricated," states Sean's father, William Bell. "We appreciate them making this song."

Patti LaBelle is being honored with an all-star tribute at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans on July 5. The veteran songbird's musical legacy will be celebrated in song by a bevy of female R&B artists, including the reunited Labelle, Angie Stone, Ledisi and Chrisette Michele. As previously reported, Keyshia Cole, Mary J. Blige, Musiq, Chris Brown, Rihanna and Jill Scott are among the artists performing at the three-day Essence Music Festival.

Lil Wayne is facing a copyright-infringement suit for use of samples from folk singer Karma Ann Swanepoel's song "Once" in his own "I Feel Like Dying." The complaint states that Cash Money Records had attempted to obtain a license for "Once," but no agreement was ever reached. Meanwhile, Wayne's "Lollipop" notches its third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Also on Wayne: Lil Wayne's "Lollipop" is stuck at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a fourth week. Weezy's recently leaked Tha Carter III will finally be released on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Wayne drops a guest verse on Lloyd's new single, "Girls Around the World," which enters the Hot 100 at No. 93. Prince has filed a lawsuit against Norwegian label C+C Records over its covers album Shockadelica. The Purple One's attorneys are demanding that all copies of the five-CD, 81-track tribute compilation be destroyed. Meanwhile, Prince held a BET Awards after-party Tuesday in Los Angeles. Singers Ledisi and Maxwell were among the performers crooning classic songs from Earth, Wind & Fire, the Beatles and Stevie Wonder.

The Game has pushed back the release of his upcoming third disc, LAX, from July 22 to Aug. 26th. At a listening session for the LP, the rhyme-spitter was happy to have produced a rap album that celebrates his West Coast roots. "I'm from Compton," Game told reporters. To add unjust insult to injury 50 Cent's ex Shaniqua Tompkins successfully filed a restraining order against the rapper on Friday. On the other side, 50 has officially filed a $20 million defamation suit against his ex, for her slanderous episodes in front of cameras as her house was burning down. After she out and out blamed the rapper & his associates for being behind the house burning. Well, he is filing suit and is readying a legal action against Taco Bell regarding an unauthorized promotion using his name. "When my legal team is finished with them, Taco Bell is going to have a new corporate slogan: 'We messed with the bull and got the horns,'" he states about the case.

And this is one for the books, it seems that Erykah Badu, Wyclef Jean, Joss Stone and Lupe Fiasco are among the acts set to perform at the Voodoo Experience festival in New Orleans. The three-day event, which takes place Oct. 24-26 in the Big Easy's City Park, will also feature Ivan Neville, Blind Boys of Alabama and dozens of other artists. Now Ashanti is one of the sweetest women you could meet in person. It does not surprise me that, Ashanti recently visited her hometown of Glen Clove, N.Y., and donated $75,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, with $25,000 set aside for a dance studio. The room will be named after the R&B starlet and used for teaching music and dance to the local kids. Meanwhile, Ashanti will shoot a video for her next single, "Good Good." Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III sold more than 1 million copies in its debut week in stores, easily topping the Billboard 200 chart. "I'm just very grateful," Weezy says of the rare achievement. "Blown away, of course." Plies' Definition of Real, meanwhile, comes in at No. 2 with 215,000 units moved. In other news, Wayne plans to launch a tour behind the album, and has a super-group in the works with T-Pain.

Lalah Hathaway has just released her fourth album, Self Portrait, via the newly re-launched Stax Records label. Although she may not sell as many discs as some of her R&B contemporaries, the songbird is satisfied with the soulful tunes she created for the collection. "I would love it if 10 million people buy the [album]," says Lalah. "But I feel really successful already. I'm very proud of myself in a way that I have never been before for a project."

Swizz Beatz is denying the tabloid rumors that a whirlwind affair with Alicia Keys was the cause of his recent divorce from R&B singer Mashonda. "I'm not hiding anything," says the hitmaker, who did the remix for Alicia's "Teenage Love Affair"  it is featuring LL Cool J. " Those reports are just ignorant." In the meantime, Swizzy is busy producing hot tracks for Young Jeezy, Ludacris, T.I. and Jay-Z. " I'm just working, man," he says.

TLC songbird Chilli is tentatively set to drop her first solo effort, Bipolar, on Sept. 2. The collection boasts appearances from fellow TLC singer T-Boz and rapper-producer Missy Elliott. Chilli describes the tracks on the new LP as "energetic" music. "This album is so much fun," she beams. "If you like to dance, work out, or whatever . . . you're going to love my album. All of the tracks are just crazy."

Natalie Cole has once again paired her vocals with those of her late father, Nat King Cole, for a track on her upcoming release Unforgettable: With Love, due Sept. 9. The two appear together on "Walkin' My Baby Back Home," a hit for Nat in 1952. "You never get over missing your dad as the years go by," says Natalie, who previously won Grammys for the father-daughter duets "Unforgettable" and "When I Fall In Love."

Star Trek's original cast member George 'Sulu' Takei and his longtime boyfriend Brad Altman are getting married.  It was rumored and then confirmed the George had been gay for years. He has been with Brad for a long time (20 + years).  It has all of Hollywood in a buzz over the nuptials. The day that same sex couples became legal in California, Brad popped the question. They went to get the license and are getting married in September. Walter 'Chekov' Kegan is best man, Michelle "O'Hurra" Nichols is the matron of honor. The ceremony will be held at the Japanese-American National Museum in Los Angeles. ET was on hand to go with them when they picked up the license.

Snoop Dogg's wife, Shante Broadus, found herself in the doghouse early Saturday when she was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after being stopped by police in Fullerton, California. Shante was then booked, & then issued a citation to appear in court and released on her own recognizance. Authorities would not elaborate on what prompted the police to stop her vehicle. Shante is expected to appear in court next month.

The Game has moved the release date of his highly anticipated disc LAX from July 8 to July 22. The California spitfire has corralled a number of guests to appear on his third collection. Among them are Lil Wayne ("My Life"), Common (on the Kanye West-blessed "Angel"), Ne-Yo ("Camera Phone"), Chrisette Michele ("Let Us Live"), Busta Rhymes ("Put Ya Hands Up"), Ice Cube ("State of Emergency") and more.

Heather Headley has parted ways with RCA Records after releasing two gold-selling albums for the label. The Tony-winning songbird reportedly was asked to be let go from the label because of creative differences. "They wanted her to become too sexy," revealed a source. "Let's just say she wasn't interested in taking off her clothes." Heather has found a new label home at EMI Gospel, and is recording an evangelical disc, due out in the fall.

August will bring a second sweet scent from Mariah Carey. The singer has announced plans to release a new perfume through Elizabeth Arden, and the so-called sparkling floral fragrance has been dubbed Luscious Pink. "This scent is feminine, flirtatious and fun, and truly reflects where I am in my life now, after an incredible year," said newlywed Mariah in a statement. Lil Wayne is having a sweet week. Not only has his new album, Tha Carter III, finally hit stores, his single "Lollipop" (featuring Static Major) remains at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart for a fifth week. In addition, Tha Carter III is on pace to sell nearly 1 million copies in its first week of release. According to retailers, first-day sales are estimated at 423,000 copies.

Rapper-producer Akon has teamed up with musician-composer Peter Buffet, son of billionaire Warren Buffet, to launch a social-networking website called Is There Something I Can Do.com for philanthropists and their prospective charities. The two came together after Akon remixed Peter's song "Anything," which encourages people to get involved with international charities. "This song serves as a global call to action," says Peter. Adds Akon: "The site is based simply on our desire to encourage people to do something."

After mounting protest from community activists and parents, Ashanti's label, Universal/Motown, has removed the "Gotchagram" e-card from her official website. The video allowed users to add their names to a fake killing spree to promote the singer's latest disc, The Declaration. Meanwhile, Ashanti will perform Friday on NBC's Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Get ready to rock down to Electric Avenue, as reggae crooner Eddy Grant is set release a greatest-hits album. In support of the upcoming release, Eddy will embark on a North American tour, which begins Aug. 8th in Toronto and wraps Aug. 28th in Las Vegas, NV.

Even bootleggers are dropping his songs onto mix-tapes already, Lil Wayne isn't bothered by Internet leaks of his upcoming album, Tha Carter III. "With my fan base, I know, whether it's downloaded, leaked or not, I know when I step onstage, I'm going to get the same reaction that I always get," he says. "That's what matters to me." One outspoken supporter of the album is Diddy: "It's a classic; it has so far exceeded my expectations," he says in a video blog.

Joining the bandwagon of many stars, Patti LaBelle has teamed up with health guru Dr. Ian Smith to encourage people to take the Ebony/Jet Weight-Loss Challenge to fight obesity with diet and exercise. "I know how important it is as a people for us to start eating properly and exercising and just start doing better things for ourselves," says Patti. Meanwhile, Patti will be interviewed Wednesday on NBC's Today show.

Jordin Sparks surprised everyone by being on one the floats at New York's 51st Annual National Puerto Rican Parade. Coming up is Jordin Sparks, she will perform her brand-new single, "One Step at a Time," on the NBC's Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. Natasha Bedingfield also is scheduled to sing "Pocketful of Sunshine" during the special, which airs at 9 p.m. ET on Independence Day. Well, this past weekend,  was the New York version of The Puerto Rican Parade and Festival.  This weekend is filled with the hot festivals that encompass the Puerto Rican Weekend.  It usually, on Sunday, falls on Fathers day.  It is a great time for all and many come to the parade to see some great performances and for some, some hot men and women. This parade is filled with not only Puerto Ricans from NYC but the States and Latin American communities from all over the world come to NYC for this Parade.  It is one of NYC's biggest parades. So if you have not come to one in NY, you are missing something great. There was great performances on Sunday, but that is not all.  The 96'st street festival on Friday is the start, The 116th St. Festival on Saturday (7th), precedes the parade and it is amazing and full of great food and performances. So come one and all to check it out man... Several music superstars will be performing free concerts at various Apple retail stores in recognition of Black Music Month. Wyclef Jean will perform at a New York location on Monday, while Goapele performs June 19 at a San Francisco location. Singer-guitarist Anthony David croons at an Atlanta store on June 16. Meanwhile, at a Chicago store, gospel maverick Marvin Sapp rocks the mic June 12th and Michelle Williams appears on June 28th of O8.

Contrary to widespread reports, Lil Flip was not in a car accident earlier this week. The Houston rhyme-slinger's manager Sandy Lal has shot down a press release which stated that a Tuesday car wreck resulted in the rhyme-spitter being hospitalized with minor neck and wrist injuries. "Lil Flip was not involved in any accident," Sandy tells AllHipHop.com. "He's very healthy [and] just returned from overseas touring."

Since announcing the launch of Nappy Boy Records, his own digital label, T-Pain has tapped rapper Tay Dizm as his flagship artist for the imprint. The Miami rapper is racking MySpace hits with his new single, "Beam Me Up" (featuring T-Pain and Rick Ross). "It's been tearing up the Internet," says T-Pain. Other artists on the label include rap upstart Young Cash, R&B loverman Jay Lyriq and the "Super Bad" R&B female trio Sophia Fresh.

Grammy-winning songbirds Patti Austin and Siedah Garrett have teamed up to record an all-female version of Quincy Jones' ballad "The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite)." The original song featured R&B singers Al B. Sure!, James Ingram, El DeBarge and Barry White. The ladies are now searching for two more divas to complete the quartet. "Give me Jill Scott and Angie Stone and we are set to go," exclaims Siedah.

The Jam Master Jay documentary Two Turntables and a Microphone will debut at the ninth annual Hollywood Black Film Festival on Tuesday in Beverly Hills, Calif. The movie, which was produced by Jay's cousin Stephon "Phonz" Watford and directed by Guy Logan, chronicles the late turntablist's career as Run-DMC's DJ to the investigation of his unsolved murder. "Jam Master Jay is a legend," says Onyx rapper Sticky Fingaz of his mentor.

Plies' "Bust It Baby Part II" (featuring Ne-Yo) has become the fastest-growing hit of his career. The Florida rapper eyed Ne-Yo for the song because he respected his songwriting abilities. "He told me how big a fan he was of my work and I told him the same about him," recalls Plies. "Then he blessed me with the . . . chorus. I can't thank him enough." Kelsey Grammer suffered a mild heart attack on Saturday, but is resting comfortably at a Honolulu hospital and is expected to be released later this week. The star of TV hits "Frasier" and "Cheers" experienced symptoms Saturday morning after paddleboarding with his wife Camille, while near their home on the Big Island off Hawaii's Kona coast. He was immediately taken to a hospital where it was determined he had suffered a mild heart attack, the spokesperson said. He was then flown to another hospital in Honolulu.

The sister of Florence Ballard is campaigning to have the late Supremes star's body exhumed and new tests run in an attempt to prove that her 1976 death was the result of something other than a cardiac problem. "My sister was healthy, she was happy . . . and she had big plans for the future," insists Maxine Ballard Jenkins. "I don't believe that she died of natural causes . . . I believe that she was killed."

Mariah Carey accepted the prestigious Video Vanguard Award at Saturday's MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2008. Ok, now hear this, the ever so mellow P Diddy is hopping mad.  It seems that there is a website called Cuff Daddy, and he has taken offense, it is too close supposedly to his name. So he is now actively sueing them.  They (Cuff Daddy), said that they will put up a disclaimer saying that there is no relation to the Puffster. Even though that since he brought this suit, it will bring more attention to the website.  So, in reflection, if he would never have said anything, nobody would have even really known about it, but now everyone will go to the sight because you are making the stink.  And will now associate you now and forever to the site, even if it is not as a spokesman or by mistake.

Chris Brown, Alicia Keys, Kanye West and Young Jeezy will perform at the upcoming BET Awards. They join previously announced performers Usher, Nelly and Lil Wayne. Chris garnered four BET nominations; Alicia and Kanye nabbed three mentions apiece; and Jeezy earned one nod. Funnyman D.L. Hughley is the host of the event, which is airing live from Los Angeles on June 24 at 8 p.m. ET.

The Super-group New Edition will receive the ASCAP Golden Note Award at the performing-rights organization's 21st annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards, which takes place June 23 in Los Angeles. The honor comes as the legendary R&B group is celebrating its 25th anniversary in the music business. "The group has firmly left their mark on today's music," says ASCAP President Marilyn Bergman, "and ASCAP is very proud to honor them.".
