What to look for in a PC or Mac?

Now a days most people are into Computers whether they are PC's (Personal Computers) or Macs (Macintosh).  The sides are drawn down the line, whose is best, what is best, how can I get the best bang for my buck.  Well that is not the only thing that divides computers, it also hangs on Operating systems. 

The most reliable Operating Systems and most secure, and easy to use, and best programs make all of these systems mutually exclusive.  With ease of use, Windows and Macs leading the charge.  Windows with the most programs, and games devoted to them.  Macs are also easy to use, great music and video like Windows, but some like the Macs for video/music.  It is a preference.  The other systems are for the more Computer experts - meaning students in computing, CIS, CS, Engineers in Computing.  Unix and Linux systems are those types.  They are great for websites and for security of systems. 

When you are picking a computer, you must have a thought of what do you want the computer to do, what can the computer do to make complete your hopes for that computer?  Remember that the best computer is one that is made for you, it does not have to be a Gateway, which is nice but can be costly for anyone because it is not upgradeable without customer service or buying from Gateway for a higher price.  It is a proprietary company that puts in certain things to prevent you from using hardware that you did not buy from them in the system.

PC's, a Dual Core 2 Ghz (means two processors) with at least 2 (gb-gigabytes) of ram/or a Quad Core (means 2 to 4 processors) with 3 gb of ram, 256 to 512 (mb -megabytes) graphics card/or a dual processor on the card (means that it is faster video processing, faster gaming processing=very happy gamer), 250+ gigabyte HD-hard drive, DVD Drive, DVD dual layer recordable player or Lightscribe Drive (prints pics on disc through the drive), multi-drive reader (gives the ability to read different kinds of cards-phones-camera cards), modem, USB and RJ -45/75 ports, with Windows Vista Media Center Edition software or Premium/Professional. 

A MAC system should have Duo Processor 2.16 (GHZ - gigahertz), 1 gb of memory, 250 gb hd, dual layer DVDr, with 802.11g built in for internet on either system, plus a monitor of that should be 17" screen.  Remember this, built systems are usually best, but if you get a Gateway, Dell, or Compaq, these are systems that are proprietary (means that can only be upgraded by the company, sometimes expensively) Upside of doing that is these companies have great customer service but costly. 

Same goes for laptops, exception on the HD- hard drive, it can be smaller, but no less than 80 gb hd, and make sure you have the wireless setup on the Laptop.  No matter if it is a Mac or PC. 

When it comes down to it, talk to a person of knowledge that has no commission incentive.  Do your homework, learn what you can about the computer that will buy, and do not forget to get to check out the warranty.  For let the buyer beware when it comes to buying a pc.
