DENTYNE FIRE: COMMERCIAL GOTTA GO!
By: Grandmaster Slice
Peace to all my hip-hop family. This is Grandmaster Slice. I'm reaching out to
you because there's a commercial running on national network, cable, and
satellite television during all time slots that sends an immoral message to its
viewers especially children. The "Dentyne Fire" commercial is what I'm talking
about. According to what happens in the commercial, it appears to me that
Dentyne Fire has similar effects as the drug "Ecstasy" (I know the gum literally
does not contain an illegal substance, but follow me). The teen-age girl in the
commercial pops the product in her mouth, immediately gets horny, and without
any respect or regards to being in her parent's presence, jumps on her
boyfriend's lap uncontrollably kissing him and undressing herself. Then the
mother pops the product in her mouth and within seconds, she is horny too and
proceeds to begin sexual actions with her husband. This commercial also sends a
message that sexual behavior from a child is acceptable by presenting it in the
manner in which it was presented.
I'm a father of two daughters ages 5 and 11 & I feel that this commercial is
inappropriate for young viewers and it needs to be removed from the air
immediately. Others outside of the hip-hop community have sent complaints to
Cadbury Adams USA LLC, the company responsible for this commercial ad, and has
received feedback saying that their "ad has been tested by a large sample of
consumers and that the test results were quite positive."
That's not good enough. That response is saying nothing. I'm starting an online
petition today to take action myself to get this commercial removed but I'm
asking you to help me make a difference by copying & forwarding this message to
your contacts or friends that you think feel the same and also signing the
petition. I'm going to contact Cadbury Adams and express my concerns and with
support in numbers from the hip-hop community, I'm confident that the issue will
soon be a past issue and also become a testimony of the positive changes the
hip-hop community can cause to take place when we move in unity.
Thanks,
Stacey Rogers a.k.a. Grandmaster Slice
