A poem can delight you, entice you, make you laugh or cry. It can touch your inner most being if you let it, but more importantly when one is written right it can touch you even when you thought that one could not. A poem is life, death, poverty, enrichment of pocket or of soul. One can touch God if one only tries, but it is in the mind of the reader/ the beholder in which it does what most cannot. I can touch you in so many ways with my words that you could hardly put together another sentence if I so felt, but I don't. but maybe I will let these talented artists try. Some poems are written with authors some do not, not because there isn't one, but because they asked not to be named and some are anonymous for reasons all their own.
A poem might say nothing new, something good something bad maybe you will find solace in these poems, and maybe you put them down to read later but no matter what you will not read what is in this poem till the end. It is a powerful poem, an racy poem, a spectacular poem, it is a poem about poems. and in the end, a poem nonetheless. This poem will be about poems that will evoke a new understanding of poems, or this will not tell you anything, but that it is a poem to introduce poems and about poems and if you understand what a poem is, then you will like this poem for it likes you.
