Lyfe Jennings was arrested Sunday in Smyrna, Ga., after leading police on a car chase in his 2005 Corvette, which he later crashed. According to authorities, police were responding to a call of gunshots in the area and saw the R&B crooner leaving the scene in his vehicle. Lyfe was charged with multiple offenses, including criminal trespassing, eluding police, refusing to take a sobriety test and weapon possession. He's currently detained at the Cobb County Detention Facility.

Nick Cannon was ready to knuckle up during Mariah Carey's video shoot for her new single, "I Stay In Love." The actor admitted that a fictional love scene between his wife and a male model drove him crazy. "It was one of those situations where I wasn't intimidated but I could've knocked him out at any point," Nick recalls. The video is set to premiere on various music networks by the end of this month.

Eminem has confirmed that Relapse will be the title of his first studio album in four years. During a launch party for The Way I Am, his new autobiography, the rapper also previewed a new track titled "I'm Having a Relapse." According to G-Unit's Tony Yayo, Relapse will emerge after 50 Cent's Before I Self Destruct's Dec. 9 release. Meanwhile, Em is designing a custom pair of Nike Jordan shoes to benefit his Marshall Mathers Foundation.

The Legendary Four Tops frontman Levi Stubbs, who helped define the Motown sound on such hits as "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)," "Reach Out I'll Be There," "It's the Same Old Song," "Standing in the Shadows of Love" and "Bernadette," passed away Friday at his home in Detroit. The singer, who was 72 at the time, had battled a number of health-related issues for several years. With Levi's passing, first tenor Abdul "Duke" Fakir, he now becomes the only original member of the Tops who is still alive and kicking.

That amazing little beauty Ciara will receive the Woman of the Year award at Billboard's third annual Women in Music event, which takes place Oct. 24 in New York. The R&B princess is being saluted for her trailblazing work as one a recording artist and also as a businesswoman. Ciara cites athletes as her motivation to be successful. "I love Michael Jordan," she tells Men's Health. "You can tell he chose to work hard to set himself outside the pack. That energy motivates me."

The hottest woman in the game Mrs. Beyoncé recently donated $100,000 to the Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund benefiting families who have lost their homes, jobs or property as a result of the Hurricane Ike disaster. Meanwhile, Beyoncé  will perform on TRL's final show Nov. 16 on MTV. In addition, Beyoncé plans to release a Spanish version of her upcoming disc, I Am . . ., in February. The songbird has already recorded a Spanish version of new single "If I Were a Boy."

Rick Ross has been tapped to rock the mic at the Give Back Concert Benefit in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 4 (aka Election Day). Proceeds from the event will go to the Donda West Foundation, which is being honored for its philanthropic endeavors. Although Kanye West will be unable to attend the festivities, he did record a special tribute video that is being shown exclusively for the concert. Update: Rick Ross has partnered with Rich Altman's Hollywood Collectibles to offer autographed memorabilia to his fans. The collection includes signed photos, custom sports jerseys, concert-used memorabilia and other goodies. Fans can purchase items at the Rick Ross Collectibles website. "Rich is a class act," beams Rick. Adds Rich: "Rick is the consummate professional and we are excited to be involved . . . as the exclusive distributor of his autograph."

Kenny Lattimore decided to go with obscure songs that may be unfamiliar to many listeners for his new covers album, Timeless. The singer believes that by covering classics like Al Green's "Something" or Aretha Franklin's "Ain't No Way," it would make his collection more unique. "The New album will come off like a brand-new CD to a lot of listeners," explains Kenny. "It almost became a fun trivia kind of thing."

It seems that singer Ashanti has teamed with fellow musicians, Strong American Schools and YouCast for a series of nice public service announcements encouraging Americans to help boost failing U.S. schools. "Education is very important," she says. "The honors classes I took in high school taught me to push myself and gave me the drive to be where I am today.".

Alicia Keys leads the list of nominees for the 2008 American Music Awards, scheduled to air Nov. 23 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET. The piano-playing diva is up for five awards, including the one for Artist of the Year, two favorite female artist trophies and two best album honors for her most recent effort, As I Am. Also among those garnering nods are Mary J. Blige, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Usher, Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Chris Brown.

Although the still gorgeous Patti LaBelle admits she was initially skeptical when she decided, to reunite with her '70s group Labelle for a new album. "I really didn't know if we still had the vocal power," she says. "But after we did the first song, I knew we were still some hot mamas." Fellow Labelle singer Nona Hendryx adds, "We're 60 years young and still willing to go to the edge." The group's new album, Back to Now, hits stores Oct. 21st.

Alicia is hopping mad, "I need a break, dammit! " insists a very busy Alicia Keys. The singer-actress recently wrapped her tour in support of As I Am, and is now on a promotional jaunt for her new movie The Secret Life of Bees (in movie theaters Friday the 17th). In the film, Alicia plays the tough-minded June, who runs a honey farm with three other ladies in the 1960s. "It's a beautiful story, and one not often told about this time in the civil rights movement," says Alicia.

R&B hot muffin Common has teamed up with Microsoft to help promote the company's Zune music players and design T-shirts for the brand. In exchange, the computer giant will sponsor the Chicago verbalist's tour in support of his new album Universal Mind Control (due Dec. 9th). "Microsoft is classy, it's a timeless brand," says Com. "I want to be timeless, I want to be international, and those are the things I feel like I'm working toward now."

The feud between legendary divas Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner over the coveted "Queen" title continues to escalate. Back in February, Aretha criticized Beyoncé for applying the royal honor to Tina at the Grammy Awards; when Tina kicked off her comeback tour last week, she resurrected the issue with a crack about Aretha's big ego. Aretha responds, "I never figured her to resort to tacky press just to sell a few tickets."

Kanye West surprised the audience at T.I.'s show in Los Angeles on Saturday by taking the stage to deliver his part of "Swagger Like Us." 'Ye then launched into "Love Lockdown" and offered a preview of the single "Heartless" before announcing that his next album, 808s & Heartbreak, is now set to drop Nov. 25. In other news, it looks like Kanye narrowly avoided another airport altercation with the paparazzi last week.

John Legend has received the "Green Light" to perform at a benefit concert for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Oct. 16 in New York. The piano man joins previously announced artists Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel on the bill. Having previously endorsed Obama, John performed "If You're Out There" at the Democratic National Convention in August. My boy, the notorious Busta Rhymes has officially confirmed that he has left Interscope Records and found a permanent home at Motown/Universal. The rhyme-spitter's new LP, tentatively titled BOMB, is due out by year's end. "I got a new label situation," Bussa-Buss said in a radio interview. In his second sports-themed blog for ESPN: The Magazine, Lil Wayne says he's working hard on the 'Dedication 3 mixtape and Tha Carter IV'. However, the best part in the piece comes just beforehand, when he's celebrating athletes like Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Manny Ramirez: "Now he doesn't have any more antics, he's doing everything he's supposed to do, and oh my God, we've got an American Idol." Tracy Morgan is hosting the New York Comedy Festival. It will be a hot night. It runs from November 5th to the 9th at several venues. OutKast member Big Boi has been tapped to be the pitchman for Coca-Cola's new energy drink Full Throttle Fury. The rapper-actor will appear in an advertising campaign that will target black males. "Full Throttle Fury appeals to men like me who consider themselves real and authentic, whose work style is to go all the way," burps Boi. "Full Throttle Fury has a great taste and provides me the energy to get through my busy day."

Ne-Yo says he'll return to the big screen in a new semiautobiographical film called Venice Beach. "Basically it's going to be my 8 Mile, loosely based on [my] life, but not really," he explains. Production is slated to begin in December. Meanwhile, his third album, Year of the Gentleman, slides to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart in its second week of release.

It looks like a just might be some resolution is near in the ongoing legal battle over James Brown's estate. A settlement proposal is  concerning the estate was submitted Monday to Circuit Judge Jack Early. The document states that Tomi Rae Hynie was indeed the late soul singer's fourth wife and that all of the children and grandchildren mentioned in James' will are lawful heirs. The families involved have until Oct. 23 to submit a final agreement to the judge.

Kanye West is co-organizing a benefit hip-hop event on Election Day in Washington, D.C., through his nonprofit, The Dr. Donda West Foundation. The Give Back concert, in conjunction with the charitable campaign Live To Give, is being held to inspire young people to vote in the presidential election. Ludacris is the fifth hip-hop designer to create a cap for New Era's limited-edition Capture the Flag series. The cap features a large crystal-studded Atlanta Braves "A" on the front and the Disturbing tha Peace logo on the back. Only 200 caps will be available for purchase, starting Oct. 17. Fabolous, the Game, Fat Joe and Cam'ron previously designed caps for the series.

Lil Wayne welcomed a baby boy on Wednesday afternoon at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, according to his rep. The mother of the child, named Dwayne Carter III, is unknown at this time. Weezy also has a daughter, Reginae, with his ex-wife Antonia "Toya" Johnson. The rapper announced that his son would be born "any day now" at Sunday's BET Hip-Hop Awards.

Jaheim is set to release his first greatest-hits compilation on Nov. 25. The collection, titled Classic Jaheim Vol. 1, boasts several of the R&B crooner's hit singles, including "Fabulous," "Anything," "The Chosen One," "Put That Woman First," "Could It Be" and others. Jaheim's last disc was The Makings of a Man, which features the hit single "Never."

Marvin Sapp was blessed with nine nominations for the 24th annual Stellar Awards, including nods for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year ("Never Would Have Made It") and CD of the Year (Thirsty). Kirk Franklin and Dorinda Clark-Cole followed with five mentions apiece. Other multiple nominees included CeCe Winans, Byron Cage and Tye Tribbett & G.A. In addition, Vickie Winans will receive the Most Notable Achievement Award. The Stellar Awards will take place Jan. 17 in Nashville.

Cash Money Records founders Bryan "Baby" Williams (aka Birdman) and Ronald "Slim" Williams pleaded no contest Friday to marijuana possession at a Tennessee hearing on charges stemming from a November 2007 arrest. The pair each received 29 days of probation and were ordered to pay a $500 fine plus $405 in judicial fees. Meanwhile, Cash Money Records has inked a deal to bring hot British R&B crooner Jay Sean to the United States.

Ne-Yo is poised to star in, executive-produce and oversee the soundtrack for the romantic flick Venice Beach. Video director Paul Hunter is in talks to helm the movie, which is about an 18-year-old girl who discovers her own singing talent after meeting a gifted songwriter (Ne-Yo). Meanwhile, Ne-Yo insists he's not beefing with rapper Yung Berg. "I don't beef," he says. "That ain't my thing. I'm a grown man. I got money to make."

Anthony Hamilton says his new disc, The Point of It All (due Dec. 2), will feature more upbeat tracks, which is a slight departure from his usual soulful gospel-like songs he's known for. "I've taken fans to church and baptized them," states Anthony. "Now we're going to boogie in the name of the Lord." You can boogie with Anthony on his upcoming tour, which kicks off Nov. 5 in Chicago.

Chris Brown was a two-time winner Wednesday at London's Music of Black Origin Awards. The singer, who did not attend the kudofest, nabbed trophies for Best International Act and Best R&B/Soul. Another honoree was Estelle, who won for Best UK Female and Best Song ("American Boy"). Meanwhile, Chris has unveiled a video for his latest single, "Superhuman" (featuring Keri Hilson). Stevie Wonder's house was not destroyed in the fire that swept through the Porter Ranch region of Los Angeles on Monday. Earlier news reports have stated that the singer-musician lost everything in the blaze, including memorabilia, clothing and furniture. "I'm grateful to say that my house was not burned down in the fire," said Stevie via a statement. "I extend my sympathies to anyone who may have been touched by this horrendous event."

Rapper T.I.'s Paper Trail notches its second straight week atop the Billboard 200 chart with an additional 177,000 copies moved. "I'm blessed," says Tip of his recent success. "I don't know what it is. I guess I'll rest when I'm dead." Meanwhile, T.I. is preparing a tour with various artists. "We're working on that right now," he says. "It depends a lot on the timing and who's available & who's interested."

Soul legend Billy Paul and late Motown singer Tammi Terrell are among the five artists who will be inducted into the Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame on Oct. 23. The singers' names will be enshrined on bronze plaques that are cemented on the sidewalk along the city's Avenue of the Arts. Also being inducted are the late trumpeter Clifford Brown and teen idol Dee Dee Sharp.

To complement his upcoming album, Before I Self Destruct (due Dec. 9), 50 Cent has included a bonus DVD that will feature a street-oriented movie of the same name written and directed by the rapper himself. "My film captures the harsh realities that reflect so many communities today," says Fiddy. The tunes will include production from studio mavericks Dr. Dre and Eminem; the first single is "Get Up."

Trey Songz visited Richmond, Va., high school students on Monday to deliver an important message about learning self-control. The R&B crooner was among a panel of community leaders encouraging teens to live better and find positive ways to avoid the fatalistic life of gangs and violence. "I want you to walk away feeling like you can conquer the world," said Trey. "Not because I say you can, but because you know you can."

Although his debut album, Love/Hate, is not even a year old, The-Dream plans to release a follow-up, Love vs. Money, on Dec. 16th. So far, Mariah Carey is the only featured guest (on "My Love"), with hitmakers Tricky Stewart and Lil Jon handling production duties. "I've definitely grown in my singing," says Dream. "It's such a great album that [Def Jam CEO L.A. Reid] is considering releasing two singles, one for pop and one for R&B."

U.K. rapper M.I.A. confirmed over the weekend that she is expecting her first child with fiancé Ben Brewer, and that she is definitely not retiring from music. "When I found out I was pregnant and 'Paper Planes' was in the iTunes Top 10," she says, "it seemed like the whole world was reshuffled in one week, and all my plans went out the window." Remember the R&B group 112, well the 112 singer Slim has penciled in Nov. 18th as the release date for his debut solo disc, Love's Crazy. Among the guests appearing on the collection are Ryan Lesile, UGK, Slim Thug, and 8Ball & MJG. "I've always been a gentleman of R&B," says Slim. "It's all about making the fans happy." Janet Jackson has nixed three more shows on her Rock Witchu Tour, as the singer continues to recuperate from an unrevealed illness that left her hospitalized last week. Shows in Greensboro, N.C., and Atlanta were canceled over the weekend, as well as Tuesday's concert in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Atlanta show has been rescheduled for Oct. 19. The jaunt is expected to resume Saturday in Uncasville, Conn., at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Update: Janet Jackson kept to her promise and returned to the stage on her "Rock Witchu" tour on Wednesday night - after a bout of vertigo previously forced her to cancel a string of shows. After a string of cancellations, Janet Jackson resumed her Rock Witchu tour in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday before a nearly sold-out crowd. According to her rep, the 42-year-old singer was suffering from migraine-associated vertigo. The video for Mariah Carey's new single, "I Stay In Love," is being directed by her husband, Nick Cannon. The couple, who collaborated on the clip's script, visited Las Vegas over the weekend to begin filming scenes; while in town, Mimi hosted an event at the Bank nightclub. The late Isaac Hayes was remembered Thursday with a musical tribute at the 5th annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors event in New York. Veteran lyricists Chuck D, Mos Def and Scarface, as well as R&B singers Cee-Lo and Estelle, performed a medley of the soul man's hits, including "The Look of Love" and "Theme From Shaft." Despite a report that Beyoncé's upcoming album may get delayed in production, the R&B starlet has written a letter to her fans that expresses her bubbling enthusiasm for the as-yet-untitled disc (due Nov. 18). "I have poured my heart and soul into it, it's my baby," writes Beyoncé. "I have taken risks here." Beyoncé is expected to tour in 2009 in support of the album. The set's first singles are "If I Were a Boy" and "Single Ladies." So, we cant wait for a advanced copy, so we can groove. In other news: Beyoncé's videos for new singles "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" and "If I Were a Boy" premiere Monday via music channels BET, VH1, MTV and Fuse. The R&B starlet plays a cop in the "If I Were a Boy" clip. "It's about all of the little things that mean so much in a relationship," reveals Beyoncé of the video. Beyoncé becomes her sexy alter ego Sasha in the video for her new anthem "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)." In the black-and-white clip, Sasha and her female cohorts shimmy and jiggle to the upbeat club jam. Meanwhile, Beyoncé & Co. were kind enough to hold a wedding at their Dereon Media Center in Houston on Friday for a couple whose marriage was put on hold after the original venue was destroyed by Hurricane Ike.

Jay-Z is headlining two voter-registration rallies this weekend in support of Barack Obama's presidential campaign. The free shows will take place Saturday in Detroit and Sunday in Miami. Individuals 18 years old or older can obtain tickets to these rallies at Obama's campaign offices in Detroit and Miami. Obama has previously revealed that he's a fan of Jay-Z's music, and recently gave props to the hip-hop community.

Eric Benét says his new disc, Love & Life, represents where he is at mentally right now. "I have always been the kind of songwriter where I write about what's living and what I'm feeling at the moment," he says. Where's sexy R&B piano man Kem these days, you ask? Chill, he's working hard on his third effort, Album III: Intimacy. The crooner knows that his devotees are eagerly awaiting the new CD, which will be released in 2009. "The fans are ready for new music," he says. "Everybody's ready for it." Kem says the collection will explore the value of intimacy in relationships. "Life is about relationships, good, bad or indifferent," he affirms.

R&B singers Tamia and Lloyd are set to headline the 20th annual International Arts Festival in New Orleans. The event will take place Oct. 11 and 12 in Scout Island City Park. Other performers include reggae act Morgan Heritage, '80s R&B trio Loose Ends and singer-songwriter Gordon Chambers. Proceeds from the festival will go to help rebuild neighborhoods that were ruined by Hurricane Katrina and, more recently, Hurricane Gustav.

Janet Jackson was rushed to Montreal's Royal Victoria Hospital on Monday after becoming ill during the sound check for her scheduled concert that night. The singer was released from the hospital after a few hours, but organizers were forced to cancel the show. Janet has already postponed her next gig scheduled for Wednesday in Boston, while she previously bumped her Saturday show in Detroit until Oct. 28 because of "production constraints." So what is going on is anyone's guess.

After a year of legal battles, the New York State Supreme Court has cleared the way to have the apartment complex at 1520 Sedgwick Ave. in the Bronx, often cited as the birthplace of hip-hop, to be sold next week. Tenants and other supporters had tried to legally block the sale of the building, even offering $10 million to buy the complex. The property will be sold to real estate developer Mark Karasick.
