Wedding Cruises and Spring or Summer Break Cruises

Well, in my travels I have gone so many places.  I have been all over the world and enjoyed traveling.  I love going to Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Philippines, India, Bahamas, and so many other places.  I am talking about Cruise Ships now, and in particular Weddings on one and what happened to me on one

Cruise Ships into harbor, click to check out cruises for Weddings and Spring Break CruisesFirst lets talk about Cruise Ships, they are beautiful and a fun time.  If you get sea sick, make sure you start taking the medicine or put on the patch way before going on the ship.

  • It takes some to time to get into the system and if you don't know if you are, go out on a fishing boat and see how you fair on one.  If you can last on the water, you will be fine on a ship.  But if still get sick onboard, see the doctor.  It is good idea to pick up some motion pills just in case for your emergency kit.
  • Take a medicine kit with you, and eat light at first to get used to the movement on the boat.
  • Keep your mind on safety, and make sure to pack medicines that you use, Benedryll is great to have for allergic reactions.

Also utilize these tips onboard.

  • Prevention from the Sun is always a problem, bring sun protection, some UV lotion, UV glasses or lens are good to protect the eyes.
  • Make sure you bring picture ID's, yes Plural - ID's = Identifications.  It is important to establish who you are.  It is better to also have a passport, even when you do not need one for Identification.
  • Get all inclusive packages, paying for food on a ship separately can be expensive.
  • When going ashore (off the ship), take only one of your ID's, and bring only one credit card, two if you must.  Keep in your pocket, not a wallet or purse.  I have always told friends, students to only take out what has to be.  Keep the rest in a safe, or the ships safe. Along with extra money or in your room in a money belt or something safe.

Cruise Weddings cruise ship drawing

Ok let me tell you what happened to me, so that it never happens to you if you go for a wedding aboard a ship. I went to a wedding on the Liberty of the Seas. I have to tell all that want to have a Wedding on a Ship.  A Cruise ship may be nice place to have a wedding, but it is hard on the guests.  There are many things that can go wrong and many delays that can happen.  Oh, and remember if you do, Please, PLEASE bring the SAME ID that you provided the soon to be's-Newlyweds.  I gave both to my cousins for the wedding, they took one and because they did not think it was important, they did not tell me that they only took one.  You see to get past security, which is sufficient and overly done, you must have ID that has been checked ahead of you coming.  The forms of ID that is required is birth certificates for the children with picture ID's (school ID), Drivers-Non Driver IDS, or Passport ID for Adults.  I found out to my dismay, they okayed my expired Passport, which by the way I did not bring.  I left it at the hotel and brought my other ID, my Drivers L. Well, that set off craziness in the process and it took 25 minutes of arguing, and pleading to get the security at the gate, to get security on the boat to come down and okay the few that did the same thing. Several guests had left one ID, since my family sent both ID's, the planner provided to the ship only one of the ID's. They guessed passport, which was a problem for us since most people carry their Drivers ID with them at all times. But in defense of the planner, they had to choose, and it could have been a problem the other way too...  Since family had come from all over the world. The other wedding officials were trying to resolve the problem, since they knew who we all were, but had to ask for the ship to come down to allow us to attend the wedding.  It would have been disastrous for us to have forgotten ID at all.  If you forget ID, forget boarding a ship in the port of Miami.  It is important to have, and go with a planner that makes sure that the group arrives early, has ID with them before they go on the ship.  A lot of the problems could have been avoided if the Planners had been at the hotel, the central place to go to the wedding to make sure all had the same ID.  That way if there was a problem with the ID, it could be dealt with.  There is no dealing with no ID at all.  And if not known, to not carry ID is a offense punishable by law.  So you can be arrested for not having ID if you did not know that in the US. So if you make a scene, and have no ID, you will have some real problems soon if you take it too far. Port Police, may seem like security guards, believe me, believe me, I say: Port Police are Police Officers, not Security guards!!!  Florida Police are not Police to play with. Although the Port Security Police are nicer to talk to and are more easier to deal with, but make no mistake.  Police DO NOT PLAY, and will make you REMEMBER THAT FACT. I was good, because of my demeanor and kept my cool.  I was upset, because the ID in my mind was not good, so I used the one that was.  My passport had expired, so I brought the Drivers L.  So it was hard to get a ship official down to the port, but once there, they took my ID.  But it took a long time to wait for the Ship Security official that could ok the ID.  So keep in mind these facts when attending or organizing the event that this is an IMPORTANT part, not something that can be missed, or messed with.  In these days of post 9/11, security is paramount and the port Police are the last ditch effort to protect the seas and passengers on ships.  They take their jobs very strictly.  They enforce the rules with no exceptions. Danger can be anywhere and they were great at that point, I felt safe knowing that they would not let any one close or aboard that did not belong.  It was hard nonetheless, to be on the wrong side of it though.  Having a Ship board wedding is great nonetheless.

Pool on Cruise ShipOn most ships that I have been on is a Pool, Gambling, video game rooms, restaurants, sauna, stores, shops, and a host of other amenities for which you and friends or family can enjoy.

Remember some of the things to always bring are ID, sun block, flotation devices, extra money for just in case. ID is Paramount to entering a ship, and make sure you have the right documents for your trip.  Always be safe, and have fun on your trip.  If you are having a ship wedding remember that if you have like 10 people that take the trip also that your trip is free.

****  Note**** Do not buy Art on board a cruise ship, it is not an investment no matter what anyone says.  Inside edition did a review of Cruise ship art and found that it was not worth the paper it was printed on.  Most was sold for more than the value of originals, and some reported originals were found elsewhere selling for less.  Let the buyer beware, please if you do buy art, please check the internet first before buying anything.  Check prices on seller sites and make an informed buy.  We found that on our investigation by a reporter who buys art all the time while on his honeymoon he saw the hawking by these dealers but knew the art was not worth buying when he was checking out one of the onboard auctions.  He was a little too condescending and mean spirited in his write-up so we went this note.
